On Monday 17 January, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) will publish a special report on the EU’s contribution to energy efficiency in businesses.
About the topic
Increasing energy efficiency is a key component of the EU’s climate change mitigation efforts and its Green Deal. All sectors of the economy have the potential to contribute to energy efficiency, and businesses are an important part of this effort.
With almost €2.5 billion allocated during the 2014-2020 period, the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund have been the most significant of the EU funds aiming at improving energy efficiency in enterprises.
About the audit
Having already looked at energy efficiency measures in energy-intensive industries, buildings and products in recent reports, the EU auditors decided to complement their analysis by assessing the soundness and effectiveness of EU support for energy efficiency investments in businesses.
Through their findings and recommendations, the auditors aim to provide new analytical insights from data on EU co-funded energy efficiency measures.
The report and press release will be published on the ECA website at 17h CET on Monday 17 January.
