Russia continues its attack on non-military targets such as transport hubs and residential properties in Ukraine in an effort to weaken the country’s resolve, Britain’s defence ministry stated Wednesday.

Britain's regular military intelligence update also stated that, despite Russian ground operations in eastern Ukraine, missile strikes continued throughout the country, as Moscow attempted to impede Ukrainian resupply efforts.

"As Russian operations have failed, non-military targets such as schools, hospitals and residential properties have been continued to be hit. This indicates Russia's willingness, in an effort to weaken Ukraine's resolve," the Twitter update stated.

"They continue to target key cities like Odessa and Kherson, as well as Mariupol, in order to gain full control over the Black Sea. This would allow them to control Ukraine's communication sea lines, which could negatively impact their economy."
